During the school year we help needy school children by filling up their backpacks with basic food and necessities for their families. This provides food over the weekends for students in grades K-6 who are food insecure. This happens on Monday mornings while school is in session, at Central School. Food is distributed at the end of the school week. If you are interested in volunteering for this program you must fill out an ICHAT form for a background check, and return it to the church office c/o Lori Hubbard. Please contact the church office with any questions.
WIC & Immunization
Our church hosts the Women, Infants and Children program and opportunity for immunizations the 3rd and 4th Tuesday of each month, downstairs in Becker Fellowship Hall, 8:30am-4:30pm. Each month there are many who take advantage of these much-needed services, and we are proud to be able to host them, so that many families can get a boost, and make sure their children’s immunizations are up to date.
Read and Feed
During the summer months when school is out, we participate in this program, to feed both minds and bodies of children. Volunteers commit no more than 2 hours. Volunteer tasks include picking up lunches and handing them out at the bookmobile sites.
Other groups and services we host and participate in:
Cancer Support Group
Vassar Ministerial Alliance
Parent-child visitations for foster children through Tuscola DHHS
Many one-time ministries and events hosted by our Women’s Guild
